New Home Community Pick of the Week: Bishop's Grant , Jodi M Sauerbier, Publisher New Homes & Ideas

I have always thought it odd that there is a town called Wake Forest in North Carolina and a university by that very same name in North Carolina, but they are not in the same place, in fact not even close enough to be considered in the same region of the state. The town of Wake Forest is just 10 minutes North of Raleigh. Wake Forest University is located in Winston Salem over 100 miles west of Raleigh. So how did this happen? Here is a brief history lesson on the town of Wake Forest: In 1838, Wake Forest College was chartered in the town, fast forward to the end of World War II and it was announced in 1952 that the college would relocate to Winston Salem. Ahhh, so that explains it. All was not lost though as the Southern Baptist Convention decided to open its new seminary in that very place. And today still in that very same place, the Old Wake Forest College campus became the new Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Beginning in the 1990s and continuing today, Wake Forest has seen an explosive growth in its population. Wake Forest is accessible, commuter-friendly and a hub for transportation. Three interstates, part of the largest stated-maintained highway system in the country, intersect nearby providing major thoroughfares to all of the key destinations up and down the East Coast and across the region. A trip to downtown Raleigh, Durham or the Research Triangle Park can be made in less than 30 minutes on relatively uncongested roadways. Transit service began in Wake Forest in July 2008 including a weekday rush-hour express to downtown Raleigh and a local town circulator. It only takes 25 minutes to get to RDU airport, where nearly 5,000 domestic and international flights arrive or depart on 18 major airlines annually.

Interested? Want to live here?  Why don’t I make a suggestion?  Take a tour of a new community called Bishops Grant. It is just off the Highway 98 bypass with easy access to 540.  But don’t let the convenient location take away from the fact that Bishops Grant is actually a serene, wooded, and picturesque community of custom built homes bursting with character and charm just like the town! There is also an amenity center with community pool.

Go ahead and visit.  You will want to move there! Click on the link below for more info:
